  • Lead and manage the apparel team in the creation and commercialization of apparel, accessories, and footwear
  • Ensure achievement of goals and objectives set by the business unit through partnership with Marketing and Graphics
  • Closely interact with apparel and graphic designers to develop high-end products
  • Actively monitor development and events calendars to ensure deadlines, costs and quality standards are met
  • Acts as an advocate for product integrity by working closely with manufacturers
  • Research new technologies and materials and communicate to Graphics and Marketing on new potential development options
  • Proactively communicate on an on-going basis with team, supervisors and cross functional teams to ensure a smooth product development process
  • Provide direction and inspire the team to ensure both the creation and commercialization processes are synergized with focus on results
  • Supervise the costing process to achieve the best possible cost throughout the creation process
  • Responsible for monitoring and continuously improving workload and organizational efficiency
  • Allocate/delegate the different products/projects to the respective development teams
  • Create a motivational and supportive work environment in which employees are challenged, coached, and trained
  • Present design and development ideas as well as cost to CEO and Marketing Director
  • Identify production schedules and effectively prioritize daily workload
  • Ensure that entire flow of production from sampling through shipping is completed and communicated to respective departments
  • Identify sizing needs based on buying patterns to generate purchase orders for all vendors
  • Understand inventory movement to place reorders as needed
  • Negotiate buying terms with vendors (price, quantity, and delivery terms)
  • Propose product markup based on profitability targets
  • Collaborate with technical/fashion designer to ensure development packages are accurate prior to production
  • Attend tradeshows to achieve networking connections and ensure booth setup aligns with brand guidelines


  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on clothing technology and/or manufacturing
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Director of Apparel and/or Apparel Production Manager
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Merchandising, Production and Development
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing a team
  • Flexibility to travel domestic and international with short notice as required
  • Available to work a demanding schedule which can include evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to deliver effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to diverse audiences
  • Outstanding track record of product and material innovation/exploration
  • Strong knowledge of and ability to apply retail math concepts, including elements of markup, margin planning, and inventory productivity measures
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the design and print production processes as well as manufacturing capabilities
  • Excellent leadership and managerial skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate a vision and inspire others to action
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Strong skills in MS office, PDM
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign a plus
  • Adaptable and quick to learn new processes and tools
  • Has a “whatever it takes” attitude
  • A track record of performance meeting targets and objectives
  • Self-directed, goal-oriented and flexible, enjoying working in a fast-paced and at times challenging environment
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and with a wide range of employees with different skill sets
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal)
